NAZCCA organizes and supports Climate Action Teams (CATs) comprised of volunteers passionate about researching and implementing climate solutions in their community. Each CAT covers different topics, from pedestrian and bicyclist safety to electric vehicles to food systems and more! Don't see a CAT that you think best suits you? Reach out to us and suggest a new one!

Arizona Statewide CATs

Bike CATs

Advocate to improve safety and infrastructure for bicycling, walking, and other sustainable forms of personal transportation that reduce our carbon footprint. Choosing to bike instead of driving increases air quality, reduces traffic and noise, and creates a better future for everyone at risk from climate-related natural disasters. Help by signing the petition for your area below and volunteering

Community Choice Energy (CCE) CAT

The CCE CAT is advocating for an energy model called Community Choice Energy that would turn local control of energy over to cities and counties. Essentially, a CCE would allow cities like Flagstaff to sell energy to residents and businesses while the utility (APS) would continue to transmit and deliver that energy, maintain the grid, and bill customers. CCE is an opt-out model which means customers can opt out and stay with APS if they choose. While efforts are underway to achieve statewide enabling legislation in AZ, the CCE CAT is lobbying cities to do studies on CCEs.

Digital CAT

Help from the comfort of your home or anywhere else! We are looking for volunteers to help with graphics and flyers, newsletters and communications, social media, website design, and much-needed data entry. We'd love to see where your skills fit or help you develop one. One or two hours a week can make a big difference. Sign up for more information or to volunteer!

Educators CAT

There is urgent need for residents in Northern Arizona to be informed and to inform others about climate change. NAZCCA is offering to coordinate, support and share information from knowledgeable community members about climate change and its mounting damaging consequences. Writers, scientists, researchers, teachers, and high school students, are urged to join this team. Sign up for more information or to volunteer!

Electric Fleets Now! CATs

Please join us as we launch the Electric Fleets Now! campaign across Northern Arizona. We are educating people about the benefits of switching to electric vehicles and encouraging public entities to transition to electric fleets. Add your support by signing the petition in your area or volunteering:

Green Burial CAT

Green burial is a way of caring for the dead with minimal environmental impact that aids in the conservation of natural resources, reduction of carbon emissions, protection of worker health, and the restoration and/or preservation of habitat. The team is working on identifying green burial options in their communities and educating the public about reducing their carbon footprint in their after-life care.

Vegan CAT

Join your fellow community members meeting to engage, educate, and empower people about the reduced carbon footprint of a vegan diet. Sign up for more information or to volunteer!

Fossil-Free Arizona

Our mission is to honor the earth and its people by doing everything possible to stop the money pipeline to the fossil fuel industry by redirecting investments to fossil-free funds and companies supporting our future. We plan to develop a state-wide fossil fuel divestment/reinvestment campaign, build a network of allies and supporters in our local communities, and work with faith-based and other institutions on divesting/reinvesting their investments and moving their money from the "dirty banks" who bankroll the day-to-day operations and expansion of the fossil fuel industry. Sign up for more information or to volunteer!

Net Zero

“Climate Change is upon us and is rapidly accelerating. Flagstaff is not moving quickly enough to reach its own goal of net zero by 2030. The current City Council has been skipping opportunities to reduce Flagstaff's carbon footprint. They need encouragement especially since the "Flag First" climate denier group has stated they will continue to fight Flagstaff's Carbon Neutrality Plan. Please join us in our work to reduce emissions. Sign up for more information or to volunteer!

OPEN

Help with Outreach, Protests, Events, and Networking (OPEN)! We inform and engage people on climate change and action by tabling or canvassing at community events, planning demonstrations, and networking with organizations and venues. And we have so much fun doing it! We need outreach volunteers, event planners, and recruiters. Sign up for more information or to volunteer!

Are you passionate about bike and pedestrian safety? We need regular volunteers to fill some roles! What skills can you bring or want to develop? We are currently trying to improve walk signals and traffic lights and identifying grants for other improvements.
