City of Flagstaff - Climate Emergency Community Forum

Over the next 120 days, City staff will work to revise the Flagstaff Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (the CAAP) to reflect both the climate emergency declaration and the mobilization of community resources to address this emergency. During this period of accelerated CAAP revisions, the City of Flagstaff is working to provide information about what they’re learning and hear feedback from the community.

These revisions to the CAAP will include:

  • Formerly changing the overarching mitigation goal of the CAAP to: "achieve carbon neutrality by 2030."

  • Identification of the sector-level changes needed to achieve this aggressive goal. This means we'll calculate exactly how much we need to change our activities and systems: how much will we need to reduce driving? How much of our electricity will need to come from renewables? How much waste will we need to divert from the landfill?

  • Revisions to the strategies and actions in the CAAP to meet the new emissions goal and associated sector-based targets.
